Caption formula checker

Paste your caption, pick a formula. Buddy checks whether the elements are present (PAS, AIDA or BAB).

Pick a formula

The three formulas

PAS — Problem, Agitate, Solve

Identify a problem. Make it tangible. Then offer your solution.

AIDA — Attention, Interest, Desire, Action

The classic marketing formula. Grab attention, spark interest, create desire, ask for the action.

BAB — Before, After, Bridge

Describe the current situation. Show the desired end state. Build the bridge.

What does this tool do?

You paste your caption, pick one of the three copywriting formulas, and the checker looks for the building blocks of that formula in your text: a recognisable problem, an attention grabber, a solution, a call to action. For each element you get a green tick or an open circle, plus a total score. The check runs on text patterns in your browser — nothing is stored or sent.

How do you read your score?

A 4/4 means the structure is right, not automatically that the post is good — the checker judges building blocks, not writing style. If you score 2/4 or lower, look at the missing elements first: usually it is the call to action ("Book now", "Drop by", "Send us a message") or the problem in the opening line. Which formula do you use for what? PAS works well for services that solve a pain point (physiotherapist, accountant), AIDA for promotions and new products, BAB for transformations (fitness, coaching, renovations). Alternate between them — pour every post into the same formula and you become predictable.

From formula to a full content calendar

A good structure is half the work; knowing what to post is the other half. Read our blog article on announcing a promotion without sounding spammy — PAS and AIDA in practice. Also have a look at the caption length checker and the hashtag generator among our free social media tools. Or skip the writing entirely: let Buddy write your posts automatically — it varies between PAS, AIDA and BAB by itself, tuned to the goal of each post.
