What are content pillars?

The thematic pillars your content rests on. Most accounts work with 4 to 6 pillars.

What does this tool do?

You slide in how many posts you published last month per pillar — product, behind the scenes, tips, customer stories, promotion and inspiration. The analyzer converts your split into percentages and places it next to the ideal mix for your industry: a B2B consultant should share plenty of tips, a fashion shop mainly product. Wherever you sit more than eight percentage points below the ideal, you get a warning plus two concrete post ideas to fill that gap.

How do you read the result?

The purple bar is your current split, the mint green marker the ideal. Perfection is not required — a deviation of a few percent is noise. What you should watch out for: pillars sitting at zero. Never sharing customer stories means missing the strongest trust signal; posting only promotions trains your followers to scroll past. The most common trap for small businesses is 80% product and promotion, 20% the rest — while behind the scenes and tips are exactly the posts that get shared and remembered. Repeat the exercise monthly; your mix shifts faster than you think.

From analysis to planning

Knowing the gaps is step one, filling them structurally is step two. Our blog article on planning social media in one hour with the four-pillar model gives you a workable system for that. Combine it with the posting frequency checker from our free social media tools to test your rhythm as well. Or leave the balancing to Buddy entirely: Promobuddy creates your posts automatically and spreads them evenly across every pillar that suits your business.
